Aftercare
Follow these essential aftercare guidelines to ensure the best results for your windshield replacement or repair.
Leave a side window open a crack for 1-2 hours
After replacing your windshield, leave a side window slightly open. This helps relieve pressure when opening or closing the door, ensuring a secure and lasting seal. Additionally, ensure the doors are closed gently to avoid any unnecessary force.
No power washes for 24 hours
Avoid power washing your vehicle for 24 hours after a windshield replacement because the high-pressure water can disrupt the curing process of the adhesive and sealant used to secure the windshield. This could weaken the bond, potentially leading to leaks, misalignment, or a compromised seal. Waiting ensures the adhesive fully sets and the windshield remains securely in place.
No sunshades for 24 hours
Avoid using a sunshade for 24 hours after a windshield replacement because it can trap heat and moisture against the glass, potentially interfering with the adhesive's curing process. Proper curing is essential to ensure a secure and long-lasting bond between the windshield and the vehicle. Allowing the adhesive to set undisturbed helps maintain the integrity of the installation.
Remove the tape from the windshield after 1 hour
The tape is utilized to ensure that all components remain securely positioned while the adhesive undergoes the curing process. Our premium adhesive is designed to be drive-away safe within 30 minutes and airbag safe within one hour. The application of the tape is a precautionary measure, reflecting our commitment to providing optimal adhesive performance. Please note that roof glass replacements do not include tape.
No car wash for 24 hours
After a windshield replacement, it's recommended to avoid car washes for 24 hours because the adhesives and sealants used to install the windshield need time to properly cure and bond. High-pressure water, brushes, or harsh chemicals in car washes can disrupt the curing process, potentially causing leaks, shifting, or weakening the seal.
Avoid bumpy roads and off-road driving for 24-48 hours
We love a good road trip, but not the toll it can take on your newly replaced or repaired windshield. To keep it in top shape, try to avoid potholes, rough roads, and off-road driving.
